1月13日 My 101I am not sure why anyone world want to know 101 things about me (haven't I told you enough already???) but I enjoy reading other people's list so here goes...
1. I suffer periodic bouts of insomnia (it is 2:30am as I type this)
2. I was born in a small coal mining town in WV
3. I weighed only 2 pounds when I was born (very premature)
4. My parents were only 17 and 20 when I was born
5. My parents have one other child, my sister Michelle, 5 years younger than me
6. We moved a lot because my dad was transferred to new locations for his job
7. I was a smart, geeky, goody-two-shoes kind of kid (what does goody two shoes refer to??)
8. I was (and am) neither a girly girl or a tomboy
9. Although I had lots of friends growing up I also required a lot of solitude
10. My parents got divorced when I was 12 and I was glad. No more fighting!
11. I was W-I-L-D as a teenager (no, I am not going to elaborate on that, my kids or parents might read it!)
12. I went to the U of IL in Chicago for a year and then to a junior college for a year
12.I met my husband when I was 15 and we got married when I was 19 (people did that back then)
13. We had our first child when I was 24
14. Although I had no college dregree, I became a career woman
15. Hank was the stay-at-home parent with Kevin at a time when that was unheard of
16. I worked for a huge mega conglomerate and loved it
17. We had our daughter 9 years and one day after our son
18. I was successful in my career and moved up the ranks for 18 years, then they consolidated our division into one in another state and I chose not to go
19. I got a job at another large corporation immediately so I had my full severance pay plus my new salary for a year (where did all that money go?)
20. I disliked that job and that company and was, thankfully, "down-sized" after 4 years
21. I was out of work for a year
22. When I finally got a job it was part time and at a very low pay
23. I am now full time at that job and I absolutely love it, I just wish it paid more
24. We lived in a medium sized city for most of our married life
25. Seven years ago we moved "to the country" (more like a small town than the country)
26. I love to cook
27. I love to host parties
28. I hate shopping but Hank loves it
29. We have a pontoon boat
30. I hated the water until we moved to a lake town, now I swim
31. We do not go to church
32. I love scrapbooking, stamping, and card making
33. I love photography but I am not great at it
34. I waste a lot of time on the internet
35. I detest housework and my house shows it
36. I love to grocery shop
37. I have not done laundry in many years (Hank does it all)
38. I have many friends, both male and female
39. Hank does not mind me going out with my guy friends but I get a little anxious when he goes out with his female friends
40. I have a terrible jealous streak that surfaces now and then
41. I am very open-minded and liberal
42. I have friends from very diverse backgrounds (black, white, straight, gay, Christian, Jewish, conservative, liberal, etc)
43. One of my best friends is a guy I met online over 5 years ago. We have never met in person and we probably never will
44. I love country music and "oldies" from the 50's and 60's
45. I have no musical talent whatsoever
46. I dream of being able to paint but so far I suck at it
47. When I was little all I dreamed about was being an artist or an ice skater (I am neither)
48. I love making lists
49. I would rather design a room on paper, make lists of what has to be done, and shop for supplies thatn actually do the work
50. My mother in law lives with us for the past 4 years and it is a trial every day
51. My dad remarried when I was 15 and have a fantastic step mom and 3 great stepbrothers (who feel like "real" brothers)
52. I am an avid reader but I like entertaining books, not thinking books.
53. I am more of a live for the moment type than a deep thinker
54. I am messy
55. I love a good bargain and never pay full price for anything
56. I have done things I am not proud of but I am not ashamed of them either, they make me who I am today
57. I exagerte a lot
58. I have had several flirtatious online relationships (which Hank knows about and approves of)
59. I wish we could afford to travel more
60. Our last vacation was 5 years ago
61. I am not an expert at anything although at one time I was an expert in my field (changed careers since then)
62. I start things but don't always finish them
63. I had a medical condition and for two years I could barely work and had no energy for anything else. Hank took care of everything at home. Meals, cleaning, kids, me, etc. He is a saint!
64. I am healthy now and getting healthier as I lose weight
65. I am very shy
66. I talk a lot
67. I hardly ever watch movies
68. I do not handle criticism well.
69. My favorite color is ice blue.
70. I love to watch the decorating and cooking shows on tv.
71. I am a great cook.
72. I make simple comfort foods, soups, stews, casseroles, meatloaf, etc.
73. I can bake but not well.
74. I have had cats as pets since I was was 11.
75. I don't always tell the truth.
76. I am incapable of completing a jigsaw puzzle.
77. I like card games and word games.
78. I read at least one book a week and sometimes up to 7 in a week.
79. Someday I want to work on a Habitat project.
80. I want to live in Maine when we retire although we will probably move around for a few years to try different lifestyles.
81. I have met Tommy James of Tommy James and the Shonedlls twice.
82. I am not a sports fan but I have met Jim McMahon of the Bears and Walter Payton (many times).
83. My frst job was as a maid in a motel.
84. I have only had seven jobs in my life, including "after school" jobs when I was a teenager.
85. I never leave the house before putting on at least a little make up.
86. I love jeans and would wear them every day if I could.
87. I look at my hands when I type even though I know where the keys are.
88. I rarely drink "pop", "soda," or soft drinks.
89. I really like margaritas.
90. I have never been out of North America and I want to change that.
91. A few years ago I assembled a doll house kit and started decorating it but never got to finish it.
92. I know how to sew.
93. I was somewhat of a hippy when I was a teenager.
94. I think margerine is gross.
95. I do not collect anything.
96. I am terrified of driving in the snow or riding in the car when it is snowing.
97. I detest rodents and bats.
98. I ride a bright red Vespa around town.
99. I woud love to have a Harley.
100. I taught my kids to love the water even though at that time I was very afraid of it.
